Dear all,

A quick reminder that the Nominet DNS Fund is open for applications, with a
deadline of 17 August 2026 at 09:00 BST.

There is £650,000 available in this round, aimed at supporting open-source work
that improves the security, resilience and sustainability of the DNS.

It is worth stressing that this doesn’t need to be a large, fully fledged
project. A smaller, well-defined piece of work is absolutely worth considering.
Something you’ve wanted to fix, improve, test or build, but never quite had the
time or funding for, could be a good fit.

Previous funding has gone to work on BIND 9, Validns, OpenSSL, Cascade, Quad9,
Dnsmasq, dnsv2, AtomDNS and Knot 3, which gives a pretty good indication of the
range of projects and work that can qualify.

So, if you work on open-source DNS software and have something useful sitting
on the “we really should do this” list, have a look. It doesn’t need to be a
big new project.

Organisations can apply for up to £100,000 per financial year, and individuals
up to £15,000.

Deadline: 17 August, 09:00 BST.

Please share with anyone in the DNS/open-source community who might have a good
use for it.

Warmly,

Roy Arends
