My conclusion is that soon a huge number of com.au
domains will be monetised. Basically if you are
thinking of registering a domain now do so before it
gets monetised. They are just going through lists and
registering domains. I did a search for sports,
actually most are registered by sports clubs but the
ones that haven't been are now monetised.

I have 2 choices.
1. Give up. If you can't beat them join them.
2. Put in several thousand complaints to auDA.
I am leaning towards number 2 and I urge everone else
to do the same.
For those of you who are promoting themselves through
adwords keywords. Buy the domain it's cheaper in the
long run and you are entitled to it.
