Hmm, a thought.

The host in question is a mail host and the MX record refers to the
*public* IP address, not the private IP range address.  Maybe something
is doing an MX lookup on the local network and the dnsmasq server is
returning the external IP address.  Can I set an MX
record via dnsmasq?!?
