Please forget what I previously wrote. We use two main linux distros and one FreeBSD box and what I needed to do needed to be portable across distros, I know that I didnt mention that in my first post but I knew I could handle the portability part.
Anyway the short of it is that half of my machines do not support the ftp -s:scriptname syntax that I was going to use to upload my files to the web server I think now I have to come up with another approach altogether. maybe something like a filewatcher in the background that checks if resolv.conf changed and if so, do the stuff I need done.
