This is somewhat of a religious thing for me, but:

a) vendors respond to behaviors documented in RFCs when RFPs/RFIs are issued
b) IP packets are generally assumed to be version 4 by most people, getting in 
the habit of documenting the behavior of both isn’t really that hard.  We need 
to get into the habit of putting v6 examples in documents, it’s 2015.
c) people copy examples forever, having good well-documented examples for both 
are important.
