Translation:

"Name resolvers that resolve names with both the DNS protocol, and with other non-DNS protocols MUST only resolve .alt names using non-DNS protocols".

But should .alt ever be resolved by anything other than non DNS? E.g.:

"DNS resolvers MUST NOT resolve .alt terminated names and instead should return <your error code here>"  or even "... MUST NOT resolve .alt, .onion, .home and .corp terminated names (case ignored")..."
