One involves some amount of lame delegation, and the other involves DNAME in the root zone. I think DNAME in the root zone is a lovely idea and I would very much like to see some junk queries handled that way, but it's worth remembering that it does involve a new and exciting RRTYPE in the root zone and presumably, therefore, multiple years of meetings before it can happen, because Root Zone. Perhaps there's no rush and meetings are fine. I also think trying hard not to send the queries and simultaneously acknowledging that there will be some mess so we still need to stock up on cleaning supplies is fine. I don't think code changes and as112 are mutually exclusive. We can do both. All this sounds like a lot of work for something that I think will wind up being quite useless, but it would hardly be the first time that has happened.
