Domain names existed before the DNS and are also used by other name resolution 
protocols than the DNS. 

I am not convinced that the term "domain name space" has any real currency, or 
that there's a useful distinction between that and "domain names".

Some domain names are resolvable using the DNS protocol. Others are not. I'm 
not sure it needs to be more complicated than that. 

I agree that a definition of a domain name as an ordered sequence of labels is 
probably better than references to graph theory, which I think most people 
(including me) think they know more about than they actually do.
