Oh, and also most importantly Karl Dyson from Nominet also joined as co-author! Yay! So we now have 3 operators (from TREX Regional Exchanges Oy, RIPE NCC and Nominet) and two developers (from Internet Systems Consortium and NLnet Labs) in our team.

Dear DNSOP,

We have pushed a second version of our DNS Catalog Zone Properties for Zone Transfers draft.

The draft seeks to standardize catalog zone properties associated with configuration for zone transfers, in order to facilitate changes that were not pre-provisioned on the catalog consumers. The properties in question are heavily based on the custom properties from BIND 9 (see https://bind9.readthedocs.io/en/latest/chapter6.html#catalog-zone-custom-properties )

The document furthermore specifies a way to associate the new properties with catalog groups, and offers even more flexibility in templating by updating RFC 9432 to explicitly allow usage of CNAMEs and DNAMEs within the catalog zone.

Most importantly, Aram Sargsyan from ISC has joined as co-author!

Please review our draft and provide feedback on the mailing list

Abstract:

This document specifies DNS Catalog Zones Properties that define the
primary name servers from which specific or all member zones can
transfer their associated zone, as well as properties related to zone
transfers such as access control.

This document also defines a groups property, for the apex of the
catalog zone, as a location to assign the additional properties to
certain catalog zone groups.

Besides the additional properties, this document updates RFC9432 by
explicitly allowing CNAMEs and DNAMEs.
