If there are alternate key chains, another could be tried.

If there is a different source of data, that could be tried.

It is like this - you know you should only drive a car with a seatbelt on.
 But what if you get in an old car with no seat belts?  Do you:
         1) drive it anyway
         2) mitigate by rigging a safety harness
         3) find another car
         4) decide not to go?
