WASHINGTON - Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Ed
Gillespie Wednesday unveiled the new RNC Internet website. The site
describes the party’s web presence as one “built to empower like-
minded Americans at the grassroots level while motivating them to
become active participants in the political process.”

Among the new features on GOP.com - the new URL for the committee’s
website - are state-by-state voter registration information, instant
local media contact search tools, an interactive blog giving citizens
an opportunity to communicate with top party officials and expanded
information tools to keep citizens, activists and the media abreast
of day-to-day activities.

“We’ve put a lot of time and thought into developing and launching a
highly interactive, multi-media site that gives people the tools to
engage in the political debate,” said RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie.

GOP.com also features a sophisticated online chat system, which will
be christened January 21. Click here to sign up for more information
about the online chat. The RNC chair will host the first chat session
with grassroots activists from around the country. Team Leaders and
reporters will be encouraged to sign-up to e-mail alerts on future
news events via an alert system available at the top of each page on
the website.

Citing the increasingly negative tone of Democrats in the
presidential campaign so far, Gillespie said GOP.com presents “a
positive alternative to the angry rhetoric we’ve been hearing from
those hoping to become the Democrats’ standard bearer. This sort of
negativity turns-off too many Americans, and GOP.com offers a clear,
constructive means for voters to be heard and become involved.”
