ANNOUNCING dg.o2004 - THE NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON DIGITAL GOVERNMENT
RESEARCH:
IT Policy, Hard Science and Multi-disciplinary e-Government Exploration
Intersect in Seattle, May 24-26

The National Science Foundation and the Digital Government Research
Center (DGRC) invite you to attend dg.o2004, the 5th annual National
Conference on Digital Government Research, on May 24-26 in Seattle, WA.
http://dgrc.org/dgo2004

In honor of the 5th anniversary of this vibrant, multidisciplinary
gathering of government IT architects, academic computer researchers
and policy scholars, the conference will offer project retrospectives
and live system demonstrations by more than 100 researchers.

The presentations will span the program's history, and the breadth of
DG research projects, which range from e-rulemaking and studies of
organizational behavior in government agencies to development of
street-level applications now in use in the realms of urban planning,
environmental management, statistical analysis and law enforcement.

. This year, we focus on:

     * reflecting on the practical aspects and unique opportunities
presented by digital government research projects, projects that are
inter-disciplinary with the collaboration of government partners,

     * highlighting the breadth and depth of current digital government
projects, and

     * exploring the nature of digital government research as a new and
growing research area.

Digital government research is interdisciplinary and multi-sector, with
a focus on research at the intersections of computer and information
sciences, IT-related social, political, and behavioral sciences, and
the problems and missions of government agencies.

Correspondingly, the conference attracts researchers in the varied
disciplines, government agencies representatives, policy specialists,
business experts, representatives from the software industry, and
members of the public.

Registration deadlines: Registration rates go up after May 17, and the
special early-registration hotel rate offered to conference attendees
expires May 7.
