Just a quick note to encourage those with pending conference invitations, speaking requests/queries, etc... to send them along in the near future: [EMAIL PROTECTED] While the e-campaigning marching band is making lots of noise, the diesel engine of e-democracy in governance and communities is building momentum. In fact, the innovations in e-campaigning ARE definitely going to raise citizen expectations on how this fundamentally interactive medium must be used in governance. Active citizens are increasingly becoming "e-citizens" and blogs used to gain votes, supporters, and donations can't just be turned off after the election. E-democracy isn't just for idealists anymore. At this point, it looks like I will be in Australia in mid-November and Europe/the UK the first part of December. This may mean that I will need to pick up my first round-the-world flight. This will make a stop in South Africa, India, or anywhere between Australia and Europe more viable. I've traded notes with so many of you over the years, let me know if you have ideas on possible events or visits: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Also, the full day e-democracy seminars across New Zealand went great. This is in large part thanks to the excellent ground work by the Futures Trust and TUANZ. We averaged 20 attendees from local government, national government, and others in each city. One unsolicitied e-mail said, "Thanks for the seminar in Auckland on Friday, it left me feeling inspired and equipped to make a difference." It must have been the coffee. The seminar model opens up another channel for building e-democracy skills in governance. It also helps generate new content for http://DoWire.Org and my public http://Publicus.Net site. So, if hosting seminars in your country is something your organization does, let's chat about the opportunity: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please go back to enjoying your August.
