It's one of the less-than-subtle messages being distributed to true believers by Prime Minister Ehud Barak's Internet campaign team as Israel's February 6 election approaches. Barak, who favors far-reaching compromise for peace with the Palestinians, is trailing far behind Sharon, who opposes further concessions but has adopted a pro-peace slogan for his campaign. With broadcast campaigning limited in content and quantity by strict laws, parties are using the Internet to fill in some of the blanks. Sharon's Likud party has created a Web site for the campaign, offering a Sharon biography, policy statements and a forum for posting messages. Barak's Web site goes a step further -- urging surfers to sign up for an electronic mail service. Those who do get a selection of campaign messages, cartoons and video clips. One is aimed at reminding voters about the Sharon-directed invasion of Lebanon in 1982, which turned into a bloody and unpopular guerrilla war that ended when Barak withdrew Israeli forces last May 24. - End clip - *** Please send submissions to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** *** To subscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** *** Message body: SUB DO-WIRE *** *** To unsubscribe instead, write: UNSUB DO-WIRE *** *** Please forward this post to others and encourage *** *** them to subscribe to the free DO-WIRE service. ***
