I'd like to propose a solution for the translation problem. As you know, little effort is being done on translation. Read: big effort is being done by a few people :-). It would be preferable that a lot of people put little effort each. This way, many people with limited time can participate every day (for them, translation would be a background task, preventing it from being boring), and we would see a real momentum in translation (which would be a superb motivation for those who do translation as a 'full-time' job, like translation coordinators for ex). I'll start to ask those who registered lately for an Arabeyes account to put 20 minutes/day, 5 days/week in translation. In those 20 minutes, one has to translate 20 strings. I think 1 minute/string is a good mean since the majority of strings are short and can be translated in a few seconds. The longest strings, however, can take a few minutes to be correctly translated. So the goal is to have _many_ translators, each one working on a PO file assigned by the project coordinator and translating 100 strings/week, no more, no less. The most important is that the translation (20 strings) is done and cvs-committed every day and not to translate 100 strings in 2 hours ! I aim anyone with Arabic/English knowledge, regardless if they subscribed to develop, to do PR or to do artwork. My preference goes for those who already know Linux and know how to activate Arabic support (pretty straight-forward now anyway), but I'm not sure. I am also tempted by proposing this to every already Arabeyes member, even core, even developers ;-) Imagine 10 translators, making translation as a background task on a regular basis: 1000 strings/week --> 52000 strings/year !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now imagine 3 times that number... I think that would be the panacea for all our translation projects. PLEASE PLEASE, to ALL this list subscribers: Can you please afford to give 20 minutes/day, 5 days/week ?
