One outputs HTML, the other XHTML. Specifically, consider the handling
of end tags:
HTML: <img src="foo.png">
XHTML: <img src="foo.png"/>
Now, I'm not sure that those two things should have to agree, but I'll
take that up with the Xalan folks, I guess.
