Thanks for the info. You're right as the HTML component in Swing/JavaHelp supports only
HTML 3.02 only.
Regarding my question 3, I've left out a "not", i.e. if the <link> points to another
HTML file, the
href is not generated with a correct reference. Maybe it's because I'm not using a
validated
documented. I'll try with DTD validation.

HTMLsymbol.ent (part of HTML 4.01 DTD):

So this is problem in HTML component used in JavaHelp, not stylesheets.
™ is perfectly legal in HTML 4.01.

This isn't bug, you can change this behaviour by setting parametr
chunk.first.sections to value 1.
