Xalan (in my experience) is just slower than Saxon. However, if you
download "Full Saxon" rather than "Instant Saxon", you will get a set of
Java classes rather than a Windows .exe, which will run on either Linux or
Windows.

Subject: DOCBOOK-APPS: xalan-j performance

Hello All,

when running the html stylesheets through xalan-j (windows and linux) the
performance
is slow compared to the saxon.exe (windows only.) Any tips to improve the
performance?
I am running it from a command/terminal window as:
(D:)\usr\app\docbookx\scripts>java org.apache.xalan.xslt.Process -in
../instances
/docbooktoc.xml -xsl ../dbxxsl146/html/chunk.xsl -param base.dir ../mysite/

Regards,

Gerrit Kuilder
