[docbook-apps] Duplicate footnotes

Is there an easy way to collapse duplicate footnotes, similar to what is
described in
http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/MoinMoinPatch/FootNoteFilterDuplicates (but
without the numbers in parentheses)?
