This is also not a big deal with all but about two reference managers. Either you create a wrapper document to put a bibliography in, which is then rendered as HTML. Or you retrieve query results straight in HTML format. You can put a HTML list of all your documents on your external drive just in case. If you're on a system that can access your reference database (some reference managers are accessible through networks) you'll certainly pefer to do quick searches for particular documents instead of browsing a list. The latter ain't fun if you're looking at 2000 documents...
