Hello, The documentation at http://www.docbook.org/tdg51/en/html/email.html doesn't seem to give a definitive answer, "In some processing environments, email may automatically generate a hypertext link (a mailto: URL)."
The 1.76.1 stylesheets definitely generate an active mailto:[email protected] link from <link xlink:href="mailto:[email protected]";>[email protected]</link> for example. Works for me even in PDF output.
