DOCBOOK: RTF headings

This is probably a questioned that's been answered a hundred times, but
I have a problem converting sgml docbook to rtf with regards to section
level -> heading levels.  In Word, sect1s appear as heading 2, sect2s as
heading 3, etc.  I read a little about renderas, thinking that was my
solution, but I don't know enough about docbook to know if I'm on the
right path.  Can someone provide a quick example to help me along?
