I know it isn't obvious, but the files in the params directory are the source files used to build the param.xsl file in each output type (fo, html, etc.), which is where the active parameter settings are. You can change parameter settings by creating a customization layer that imports docbook.xsl, as described here:

Well I tried to adjust parameters in the docbook/xsl/param directory, but the problem is, they don't get used as it seems. I used af file monitor to watch every xml file that got processed, but none of the params was opened during
transformation. What am I doing wrong here?
