Including MathML is fine if you have a toolchain that can process it.
The DocBook XSL stylesheets do not, because it is beyond the scope of
what XSLT can do. But the stylesheets can pass it through to a
downstream processor such as Antenna House, which can format MathML.
dblatex can also handle MathML equations.
