Any progress on this? I just had a look at XML for one of my clients and it has 800 images, half the size of the XML file is just wrappers upon wrappers. Any pointers? Indeed. Of course right now there are two competing proposals for this feature: http://picture.responsiveimages.org/ http://www.w3.org/html/wg/drafts/srcset/w3c-srcset/ So rather then copying syntax from HTML5 we should invent our own syntax capturing data needed for this feature and then transform it to whichever syntax becomes mainstream for HTML5.
