I suspect because most colophons are brief, although that is obviously not a requirement. But now that you mention it, a couple of years ago a client asked me about it, and I suggested using bridgeheads so they could label the various divisions in the colophon.

them nicely, even though they're invalid:-), but I'm curious as to whether
