What can I say, I like very much your original menu, but it doesn't render properly in broken browsers. Not so much this one. Shell we go with tables for the menu?
This menu idea looks a lot like Allan's table-based suggestion, only without tables. It works in NS4 (although it doesn't look that cool) I'm not opposing a table-based menu, only I don't want to fiddle around with spacer gifs etc. But as far as I know there exists a manu_top_level using a table (in http://www.apache.org/~stas/preview/allan_24_1/), so we could use this one.
Yes you are right. Allan's URL above is the same as yours with css but implemented with tables and works better cross-platform.
