I'm not sure if that's because that is a more common place to see a search box, or if it's because it makes the content section less busy. I also like the bread crumb above. Again, I think it's because it frees up space on the content section. The page is a little bland, color wise. Going to have trouble with the color of the "mod" in the logo with the background. And I wonder if the blue color of the "perl" can be used other places. Did we ever try using an underline active link style? That might liven it up a little.
