Allan set me some updates to the search pages and style sheet relating to the search page. Those are now in.
I ran a search results page and style sheet through http://validator.w3.org I made a few minor changes. 1) I went back down to a smaller font for the summary. I (and my wife) thought the description was too big -- it was the same size as the title, or so it looked. I tried it on IE6/Mozilla 0.9.8 under Windows, and Konqueror/Mozilla/Galeon under Linux. I have a 19" monitor (14.24" vis Horz.). On Windows I'm running at 1024, so that's the "standard" 72dpi. On X I run at 1152, so things look a little smaller, but readable. I start my xsession with -dpi 100. (I wish I understood how to configure X better!) 2) I also moved the rank number down into the green "properties" section. With such long titles the rank often got pushed onto the next line. The rank *number* is not that important. 3) I added some space (margin-top: 0.4em;) before the green properties. 4) reduced the wording and font size of the search time. Did we discuss just removing that completely? 5) Fixed the search by "This Section" form -- radio group was misnamed. Questions: 1) The path name in the green properties section is often quite long causing a scroll bar for the page width. What do you think about hacking off the fragment? 2) The doc size is only the size of the specific section, not the size of the entire page (which must be downloaded to view). Should that show the real size instead? 3) I think we need to not display the search box in the side bar on the search page. Doesn't make sense to say "search this section" there on the search results page, of course. -- Bill Moseley mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
