Hi!
Just wanted to let you know that I'm now back from Morocco and (sort of) finished with digging through the heap of work that aggregated during my holiday.
Ahalan and Sahalan Thomas, nice to have you back
I just fetched the latest CVS version and buildt it, looks /very/ nice, IMO. The new logo rocks, and the breadcrumb trail with the camel and the curve looks cool, too.
we were just waiting for you to come back so we can release the site :)
Regarding some of the discussions I missed: * search box: I like it where it is now, but maybe we should put it after the "Hot Short Cuts", so that the shortcuts can be seen on smaller monitors/not-full-size browser (the box was below the fold on my default-browser-size...).
-1, the search shouldn't fall off the first screen, which is a case if you screen is not too big. Most likely search is going to be used more often than the shortcuts. Also the shortcuts menu will probably grow a bit as 2.0 stuff will become important.
Or, maybe put the search field inside the ShortCut-Box, after the list of the short cuts (It would fit conceptionally, as the search is nothing but a shortcut to info you are looking for ...)
as Per Einar said, that doesn't really fit there.
SRC/PDF: at http://perl.apache.org/preview/modperl-docs/dst_html/ the SRC/PDF buttons look much better than the one in CVS (i.e. grey border, white background and grey text is better than grey background and white text) Maybe I did something wrong when checking out, or the 'new' (?) images aren't in CVS, but I like perl.apache.org/preview/... better.
Please update the your cvs again http://perl.apache.org/preview/modperl-docs/dst_html/ is up to date with the CVS, I update it all the time.
Do you still see the difference? BTW, it's SRC button with reversed colors of PDF.
Content: Just Great! Is there any section still unattended? If so, I can take a look at it.
I know Bill could use some help with the /start that he is working on. Short useful examples are what's needed now. Otherwise just check what doesn't look right or missing.
sister sites: I added Perl Monks, as there are some mod_perl topics discussed from time to time .. see attached patch.
cool, will commit it. Thanks!
Meta-page: Maybe we should add a page on how this site was done (not only the technical aspects covered in dst_html/help/help_with_site.html), who did it, etc.. I could try to write something up (beeing a non-nativ speaker, maybe somebody will want to edit it later ...), if you think such a page would be nice (Personally, I'd love to see my name somewhere on the site ...)
sure, go ahead :)
It's nice to be back here!
