Is this still a problem? Looks pretty static to me, but maybe you meant having it without the layout?
It doesn't work with static links, because when ErrorDocument happens it renders the page at the URL that was wrong and not /404.html. Anybody knows a better workaround? It'd be great to have 404.html look like the rest of the site, but as Bill pointed out this doesn't work.
