Sorry to contact you off-list, but I'm not on docs-dev. Feel free to distribute this message to anyone you think should see it.

Here

is a screen shot of what I see when I look at

<http://perl.apache.org/docs/1.0/guide/performance.html#Improving_Perform>

The bullitt.suite.dk page renders just fine.

I'm running IE 6.02 under Win98. I've seen this problem before (additionally under 5.x versions of IE). IIRC, I even asked the mod_perl list about it. At the time, I thought I solved the problem, but as it turns out I did not. It's still a mystery to me.

The site I saw the problem on previously makes moderate use of style sheets and has a few handlers running, but it's really nothing fancy.

I don't know if this is helpful, but good luck.

cheers,
Todd

Has anyone else had problems with this particular page under IE
(6.0.2600 under XP) being extremly slow to update when paging up/down?
It works fine under Mozilla, and it's not a memory or cpu issue (checked
with task manager already). And when I say slow, I mean a simple down
cursor causes the visible portion of the page to get painted in 4
noticble steps/chunks.

please check if the problem exists on this url:
http://www.bullitt.suite.dk/clean3/dst_html/docs/1.0/guide/performance.html
if you have other browser software, please check and see if anything else is broken there as well.

Allan, You are trying to solve it by applying HTML::Clean, which reduces the size of the page, right? But even if it does solve the problem for this particular page, what happens if the page grows, or there is some other page which is bigger, and no cleanup will make it small enough to make IE happy.
