How about adding two convenience links to the installation instructions on
the download page?
Current releases:
* mod_perl 1.0: 1.27 (June 1, 2002) [install]
* mod_perl 2.0 (in development): 1.99_04 (June 22, 2002) [install]
Or add some text at the end that says to read the INSTALL* docs in the
distribution once unpacked, with a link to getwet.html or install.html.
It's something like four or five links to get from the download to the
getwet installation section.
Please read the README, SUPPORT and INSTALL files bundled wth the
distribution after <a
href="/docs/1.0/guide/getwet.html#Installing_mod_perl_in_Three_Steps">downlo
ading and unpacking</a> the distribution. See <a
href="/help/index.html">Getting Help</a> for support information.
Minor comment, but another thing that I often find useful on download pages
such as http://perl.apache.org/dist/ is the README and Changes file
unpacked. It's nice to be able to read those without having to download
and unpack the distribution. Or perhaps just a link to a directory with
the current version unpacked.
