I agree that documentation should be accessible from the main page.
And probably from anywhere else, because in our world,
documentation is one of the most important tools.
It is as important as the sources.

The documentation community is a place I turn to when I want to learn
something about producing and improving documentation, not if I want
the documentation itself.
