snapshot. Done. Alan verified previous email from Ikuko confirming this
approach and Dolores also confirmed.
Labels - revisited
* Alan provided expanded list of labels that writers working on wiki-based
content should use.
* These are required to dynamically aggregate into topics by action and
topics by technology (according to the design for the wiki snapshot).
* Onus is on writers to make first pass at applying these labels to their
content, but Diane added that others should apply them when/where relevant to
help build up robust set of wiki content on the role-based landing pages.
* Barbara H pointed out recent wiki discussion suggesting need to add
maxResults attribute to the contentbylabel macro to ensure > 15 results are
displayed. (This is something for Alan to do on the landing pages, not
something writers need to be concerned with.)
* Alta asked if we can remove the doc icon from next to the titles that are
aggregated. Alan said media designer, Mike Quillman, raised same concern that
the icon is taking up real estate in small space and is investigating options.
May just use bullets.
Upcoming deliveries - schedule review
* Few docs wrapping up next week: Distro Constructor, AI Guide, GSG.
* Several wiki-based docs scheduled to complete soon, but with the G11n
approach to work on the frozen wiki snapshot, this actually relaxes the
schedule somewhat, so there's a little extra time to tune/tweak if necessary.
* Alan asked Alta to give brief overview of the OSOL information center
document. Since docs.sun.com is frequently accessed, this landing page is meant
point docs.sun.com users to the range of OpenSolaris content, whether on dsc,
wiki, or dlc. So, there will be an OpenSolaris node on DSC with this landing
page.
* Some docs should be pointing to the frozen wiki. Alan has action item to
determine what that URL is (and potentially to create it so that OSOL info
center check in doesn't fail with broken links).
Wiki snapshot - look forward to the process for copying wiki week of 5/9.
* Alan wanted to try to anticipate high-level tasks. He generally sees the
following happening:
o Add / tweak design elements and layout of the dynamic wiki site to
be more parallel with the intended design of the wiki snapshot. (Some of this
may occur prior to week of 5/9.)
o Work with writers to ensure content ready to go.
o Copy wiki.
o Add / tweak graphics in snapshot to be more consistent with .com
look / feel.
o Update / verify links in copy.
o Writers may need to scrub their content in the snapshotted wiki
space if it is forward looking (describing features in future OSOL release) or
features that are not in OpenSolaris. Sounds like COMSTAR is an example.)
* Alan mentioned that this is first time for this team through this, so
over-communicate any questions, concerns, issues that come up.
