*Meeting Minutes....

Attendees:* Jim Siwila, Kathleen Flaherty, Mary Lautner, Diane Plampin,
Wenling Chen, Kelly Nishimura, Alta Elstad, Jyothi Srinath, Kathy
Slattery, Paul Kasper.

*Action item review*

    * Kathleen, Set up meeting to discuss SXCE doc issues. Remains open.
      Haven't been able to do this with key folks on vacation. Remains
      open.
    * Alan. Follow-up with legal regarding TOU vs. SCA question. Closed.

Alan discussed with Legal. While there is some overlap between the
wikis.sun.com TOU and the OpenSolaris
<http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris> SCA, the SCA is
the standard agreement for OpenSolaris
<http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris> contribution.
New guidelines on the docs community web site and on the wiki site will
make it clear that contributors should sign/submit an SCA. Alan will be
point person to validate aspiring contributors have an SCA on file and
will be liaison to assist community members going through that process.

*Delivery status*

    * Eng./Kelly - engineering looking good. Go/No-go this a.m.
          o Assuming a GO decision today, will get Production team
            working on CDs for Tokyo tech days (12/2)
          o Kelly doing Phase 5 review today with Jeff Jackson, et al.
          o Push of new bits is now 12/1.
          o New docs community site pages will be updated at this time,
            with links to new docs.
          o Mkt. launch announcement is 12/10.
    * Docs/Kathleen - docs in with exception of Linux->OpenSolaris
      article and Release notes.
          o Linux->OpenSolaris article ready to go. Kathleen helping
            Margaret through process for first time.
          o Release notes 90% complete.
          o Couple of docs done, but genhtml issue preventing HTML
            generation. Under investigation, but these are not the core
            docs.
    * Alan
          o Kudos to everybody who has contributed to 2008.11 doc
            effort! Really superb effort and it has all come together.
          o Lots of work, especially with regard to breaking new ground
            on wiki work, which required extra effort to provide
            "snapshot" to support the release. (Already getting positive
            feedback on wiki doc work.)
          o Will be conducting postmortem to get inputs on how to
            improve process/communication/efficiency for 2009.04 release.

*Docs community site updates*

    * Current docs page (see
      http://opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/docs-index/
    * Original intent was to provide a "view" of the open sourced docs.
      However, page, grouped by user type, also suggests that it's a doc
      resource or aggregation page.
    * Alan proposed make intent clearer (title page "current open
      sourced docs") and point to open sourced, redistributable docs in
      the docs consolidation tarball, open sourced docs in Mercurial,
      and now in the OpenSolaris
      <http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris> Info
      Resources wiki space.
    * Alternative page here:

http://opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/docs-index/docs-indexTest/

    * General impression was that the intent of the page was clearer and
      the content consistent with that intent.
    * Paul mentioned that bullets lost on the page, so maybe make them
      headings.
    * Discussion took a turn towards topic of the utility of the docs
      tarball, should it contain the wiki docs and all the mercurial
      based docs, etc. Alan noted that the docs are spread out now.
      Warrants investigation about how other communities (inside/outside
      of Sun) make large quantities of docs available for redistribution
      and to get a better understanding of our community requirements.

*Wiki doc licensing*

    * Alan noted that with move to using wikis.sun.com, it was critical
      that we provide licensing that allows community to not only
      contribute, but redistribute/re-use the source.
    * Based on this desire, will apply the PDL to the entire OpenSolaris
      <http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris>
      Information Resources wiki space. (Links still need to be set up.)
    * That wiki space currently allows "commenting" by anyone.
      Contributors need to sign/submit SCA (see previous notes).
    * Contribution process is documented on docs community site (and
      will be prominently available from the new home page, "Contribute
      to OpenSolaris
      <http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris>
      documention" link) and also on the OpenSolaris
      <http://infoshare.sfbay/twiki/bin/view/Main/OpenSolaris>
      Information Resources wiki "how to contribute" page.
