I hear what you're saying, and that brings up several additional questions! :-)
1) The link that is currently in the dtrace file (http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/817-6223?a=view) was also expected to be persistent, but it turned out not to be. Has something changed since the DTrace samples were written, such that the URL that is now recommended (http://docs.sun.com/doc/819-2244) *is* more persistent? 2) If not, I suspect that we should just delete all such references from code -> docs, and replace them with prose, e.g. "The full text of Chapter 27 may be found online at docs.sun.com." That makes persistence more likely. But, if we do that, are we sure that docs.sun.com is persistent enough (e.g. will it ever move to opensolaris.org)? Maybe we should just bite the bullet and delete such references entirely?
