Hi Velibor, I'm one of the Solaris doc managers.
This email was forwarded to me, and I'm ccing the documentation community on OpenSolaris. We're working hard to simplify the documentation (and the software user experience as well). Have you looked at the documentation for OpenSolaris 2008.05? (http://opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/) What do you think? Are we on the right track? Please let us know of any suggestions you have or any errors that you find in the documentation. You can do it through the docs-discuss at opensolaris.org alias, if that works for you. You can even join the docs community so that you have input into the direction of the documentation going forward. We'd love to have you join us. Thanks. - Diane -------- Original Message -------- Subject: I know this email is in vain, but I hope that solaris will one day become really easier to set up and use Date: Thu, 21 Aug 2008 15:58:20 +0200 From: Velibor Glisin <[email protected]> To: opensolaris-dotcom-support at sun.com Dear Sir, If You don't make Solaris 10 somehow more usable and friendly, with easy to use and follow documentation, You are gona lose. Why I am telling You this? You documentation is horribly profesionall and totally wrong. We need a huge miner tool to find ordinary things like setting up a fixed IP, default gateway, how not to change things after reboot, and so on. I have a nightmare making my x4150 to see DHCP and to receive IP, gateway and other things. After that, when we decide to make it with fixed IP, I manage somehow to manage that, not to mention that after reboot everything was in vain... After somehow manage to do that, and lose 2 days, my sshd is not working anymore. Sorry wolks, You need to be more near to ordinary linux/windows mind or You are gona lose, no matter how "pro" You are. Hope, You are gona change something, but this ProMonster is just too pro. M.Sc.
