Hi Raoul,

Sorry for the late reply. I just finished reading the document, and here are
some of my comments:

a. General

I know it is hard to summarize the concept, but in general I feel it
confusing between the concepts of an "interface" and an "link". Do you
differentiate them at all?

For example, you mentioned "the description of link names in network
interfaces", you also mentioned physical interfaces and logical interfaces.
The former seems to mean links, and the latter seems to mean IP interfaces.

b. "Interface names in Previous Solaris Releases"

Do you need to use past tense here? I just feel it wrong to see "interface
names are derivd from the hardware's network driver", but I am not an
English speaker, so maybe my feeling is wrong.

Again, here you use "interface names", do you mean "link names"? Surely, a
interface name is associated with its link name (if this interface is
associated with any link). But this is not clear in this document.

c. "Link Names"

Here you refers a device name as "the physical link's name", I think it is
better to explicitly call out as "the physical link's device name".

d. "Caution About Changing Link Names"

One doesn't need to change autopush(1M) configuration to work with the link
rename operation. The only thing relevant to autopush(1M) configuration
which needs attention is how it works with the per-link autopush link property.

e. "When to Rename Links"

Again, it might only because of my English, I don't quite understand what it
means: "To transfer the configuration of an available link to a nonexistent
link". I think you mean a nonexistent link *name*?

f. "Rules for Valid Link Names"

I believe Dan has already commented on this.

Aside from those rules, "lo0" cannot be used as link names. Because it is
reserved for IP loopback interface.

g. "Link names and the dladm Command"

show-phys does not display the same information as show-dev, but the
equivalent information.

Thanks
- Cathy
