Where did you obtain this info for Solaris 10? According to this source bit from OpenSolaris, it looks like rlim_fd_max is 65536 (Hex:10000) http://cvs.opensolaris.org/source/xref/onnv/onnv-gate/usr/src/uts/common/conf/param.c#372 I will update the howto.
