;-( Why isn't it possible to release the manual pages in the SolBook format directly ? IMO this limits the contributions others could do (for example long ago we had the opportunity to get one of our students to translate ksh93(1) (the new version from http://www.opensolaris.org/os/project/ksh93-integration/docs/ksh93r/man/man1/sh/) to japanese based on the SolBook version of ksh(1) but we were never able to obtain the SolBook sources and the student dropped off (mainly thanks to frustration (and the end of the summer break)) ... ;-( ). > Currently, the infrastructure doesn't support DocBook XML. > But, we are working toward a doc build environment that > would enable everyone to work on the same SolBook files. Note that it would be nice to support DocBook/XML in parallel to SolBook - many OpenSource projects use DocBook/XML as manual page format and it would save some time if we could simply "drop-in" such manual pages, skipping the "nroff" format completely (yes, I know... Solaris would have to ship the DocBook DTD (and likely not only one version) but it would prevent that we have to mess around with "nroff"&co.) ... I really like to get rid of "nroff" for new projects/applications... ---- Bye, Roland -- __ . . __ (o.\ \/ /.o) roland.mainz at nrubsig.org \__\/\/__/ MPEG specialist, C&&JAVA&&Sun&&Unix programmer /O /==\ O\ TEL +49 641 7950090 (;O/ \/ \O;)
