<p>I think we should provide project ideas at the start of the contest, but I
also think we should be open to projects that people think of after the contest
starts.
</p><p>
I think documentation tools definitely should be part of this contest. For
example, the <a
href="http://www.genunix.org/wiki/index.php/OpenSolaris_Documentation_Community_SketchPad">OpenSolaris
Documentation Community SketchPad</a> mentions the need for a "PDF toolchain."
This need is also discussed on <a
href="http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=47173&tstart=0">this
documentation thread</a> and <a
href="http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=45927&tstart=0">this
MDB thread</a>.
</p><p>
I can think of some documentation needs in areas that I [try to] cover for Sun.
I am not familiar with needs in other areas, so the rest of you must chime in
with your own suggestions as well.

<ul>

I would love to have tutorials for writing various kinds of network and storage
drivers. These tutorials must include well documented template drivers.
</p></li>
<li><p>
I would love to have annotated screencasts of someone using various <a
href="http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/observability/">observability
tools</a>, especially MDB and DTrace, to solve a particular problem.
</p></li>
</ul>
<p>Contribute your own contest ideas here, and join the planning <a
