My 2 cents -- and speaking more generally: The default choice should be to
put content on opensolaris.org. One reason is consistent user experience.
Also, a wiki or something wiki-like (integrated collaborative editing
system) is in the plans for opensolaris.org. I definitely don't think we
should rule out something because it's about, not just OpenSolaris, but
other UNIXes too (e.g. Linux). Reason being, I suspect the large majority
of opensolaris.org membership uses, develops on, or manages more than one
kind of UNIX/Linux system.

Re: when should a project consider using the genunix wiki? IMO, it's a
good idea if broad editing/input is a primary goal. (Wikipedia is an
example of what I mean.)

P.S. It's really handy that genunix chose MediaWiki because there's such a
_huge_ wealth of how-tos/tools/users out there.
