Hi Jeremiah, Thanks for this post, what sort of technologies are you documenting? We do have open source documentation to get you started with the markup here:
http://www.opensolaris.org/os/downloads/docs/ To get an overview of editing and processing these files, or the HowTo template, check out the tutorial here: http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/doc_collab/tutorial/ The sources are DocBook5 XML files. For detailed information about HTML and PDF generation from these files, take a look at http://www.opensolaris.org/os/community/documentation/doc_collab/tools/ We currently need some help to get a tested tool-chain to PDF, so, any thoughts you have on that after you have a chance to look at our tools page are welcomed. Inside Sun, we use some proprietary tools for PDF processing, which is part of why the PDF docs are so lovely. I've heard another recent request for details about how we produce PDF for commercial documentation, so I'll see if we can get a document together that describes what we do across all software publications at Sun to acheive this look/feel. Regards, Michelle This message posted from opensolaris.org
