Hi Linnea, Thanks for taking time to think about this in a different way. I like your approach and if others agree, we should take the front page in this 'task-based' direction going forward. I did talk with a visual designer about this page recently and asked him for some ides about graphics. Our thinking after looking at the main doc page was to represent similar 'task' types that you bring up in your comments, so your timing is good. I'd like to represent the following buckets of stuff on the doc pages graphically:
-Doc contributor resources (i.e. style guide, glossary) -How to Contribute docs (i.e. How to Participate, Sun Contributor Agreement) -OpenSolaris developer resources (i.e. quick start, primer) -How to Find developer docs (Doc Downloads, Doc Index) Maybe these 'types' duplicate some of the graphics we already have for the greater opensolaris site? I'm not sure, but we should go for re-use if possible. Maybe the correct path is to take a step toward 'task-based' by using your proposed questions, then, in the next phase, we can build some helpful graphics? Can you map the questions you proposed to the links on the main page, to help me get started? I think 'want to contribute?' maps to the How To Participate and Contributor Agreement links, how should I map the other questions you proposed? Thanks, Michelle This message posted from opensolaris.org
