The opening paragraph says:

"The main goal for the new Cocoon 2.2 configuration system is to avoid patching 
of any provided configuration file (If you're familiar with previous versions 
of Cocoon you might remember the patching of the cocoon.xconf or web.xml to 
satisfy your project needs.)"

Sounds great!  Really intriguing, in fact.  But then, (to me at least) the rest 
of the page does not explain how this goal is accomplished.  It seems to say 
"now you configure stuff in applicationContext.xml instead of cocoon.xconf".   
So... big deal?!?

The last comment in the code sample sounds promising: "...here or in separate 
configuration files".  Is that the secret?  If so, how about some more 
explanation?
