If you need new features in Ant 1.5, I've just uploaded modified Ant 1.5 to http://httpd.apache.org/dev/dist/jakarta-ant-1.5-modified-jar.tar.gz With this, you won't need to change the name of Japanese files. That will probably make your patch smaller and easier to review.
