          Priority: P2
            Bug ID: 53530
          Assignee: docs@httpd.apache.org
Summary: <Directory> docs don't explain when to use quotes
          Severity: normal
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Windows XP
          Reporter: s...@apache.org
          Hardware: PC
            Status: NEW
           Version: 2.5-HEAD
         Component: Documentation
           Product: Apache httpd-2

The documentation for the <Directory> directive [1] refers to the
directory-path parameter.

Sometimes this is shown enclosed in double-quotes, and sometimes not, for no
apparent reason. I could not find any description of when quotes are required.

Also, if double-quotes are used, are they only special if present at the start
and end of the parameter? i.e. what escaping mechanism (if any) is needed to
allow double-quotes within a directory-path? [Unlikely, but valid on Unix]

One further nit: the syntax summary does not allow for the ~ RE introducer.
