--- Comment #4 from Philippe Cloutier <[email protected]> ---
Apologies again:
1. I was confused by the new text and our definition of “URL-path” (and more)
yesterday. The new version is misleading, implying that the query string is
included in the URL-path.
2. The "pathinfo" spelling does not seem to be used (outside Wikipedia).

After more thought, I agree with keeping the sentence. Replacing the paragraph
with the following would fix:
<p><module>mod_rewrite</module> can operate on the full URL-path, or any
portion of it, including any PATH_INFO (the portion corresponding to <a
href="../env.html#cgi">the PATH_INFO CGI environment variable</a>). It can also
alter the query string (<code>‎%{QUERY_STRING}</code>‎).</p>

This removes the last sentence, which is redundant with the previous paragraph
(except for the mention of cookies). It also reduces the risk of confusion that
PATH_INFO and QUERY_STRING would both be always available to mod_rewrite.
