Thats quite interesting. Would you mind creating a cachegrind file with
the xdebug profiler of a) a script run WITH is_array and b) a script run
WITHOUT is_array so that i can take a detailed look. Creating these files
is quite easy: http://www.xdebug.org/docs/profiler . You only need to read
the section about "starting the profiler", just in case you didnt profile
with xdebug yet.
Analyzing these files will give us a much better understanding of whats
going on.
